Courtney and her family
Courtney with her family and their Jack Russel Terrier

Founded in 2010 by Courtney Queripel, Q&Co. reflects her deep background in art and architectural history. This knowledge consistently informs her design approach, ensuring a careful and considered outcome for every space.”

Courtney is American born and bred and has spent more than a third of her life outside of the United States. She continually strives to deepen her knowledge of how styles evolve, tracing their origins, and exploring how environments – both physical spaces and the places we inhabit – influence our self-perception and our sense of belonging in the world.

A career in academia (ie, museums and art galleries) was what she thought was her calling her name until an opportunity to work in London for Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler came along. Founded in the 1930s, Colefax & Fowler is one of the longest established interior design and decorating firms in Great Britain. This experience was the foundation and facilitator to work for several other interior designers and textile designers within London.

During this time, Courtney met and married Matthew, a native of South Africa. Together, they undertook the renovation of several properties while Courtney simultaneously established her own design practice. Their family home was essentially a showroom for Courtney’s design work. This was all happening while growing their family to include three children and a Jack Russell Terrier, who goes everywhere with Courtney.

The family relocated to the United States on Christmas Eve 2019, which was not an impulsive move by any means. Rather, it provided Courtney and her family the opportunity to continue their careers and education with a fresh perspective. This change provided each individual with the chance to integrate their global experiences into their everyday lives, interactions, and personal relationships. Each member of the family embraced the lifestyle changes which living and working in Virginia provided.

A move back to the UK in September 2024 has provided Q&Co a return to its geographical origins as a business. Courtney has always been inspired to incorporate enduring visual styles from the places she and her family have lived – the United States, Great Britain, and South Africa – into her work, while avoiding fleeting trends. Simultaneously, Courtney delights in incorporating aesthetic elements from countries where she has cultivated strong relationships with local suppliers and artisans into her interior designs. A richer layering of worldly experience has brought the company to where it is today.

Q&Co is committed to utilizing local talent and resources wherever a client or project is situated. Tapping into local contractors, tradesmen, artisans, and suppliers is what we believe will bring about stunning results in every project.
